Debbie started training with GrassIron in late 2011, and she lifted consistently for a little over four years. In fact, she even competed in Powerlifting Meets! (Debbie doesn't do anything halfway!)
In 2016, life changed. She retired, moved to Pflugerville, and shortly thereafter became a grandma for the first time! So strength training took a back seat. You know how it goes, life happens!
In 2022, her husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's. At that point, they both decided they needed to lift weights again, but this time with very different goals. His goal is to try to improve symptoms and delay the progression of the disease. Her goal is to regain strength so that she'll be able to care for him at home as long as possible.
Fast forward a year and a half: Debbie recently set a
NEW PERSONAL BEST IN DEADLIFT
SHE PICKED UP 100KG!
THAT'S A LIFETIME PERSONAL BEST! (Did I mention Debbie doesn't do anything halfway?!?)
