After spending two years teaching and coaching in Kansas, Amalia decided to move to Texas. Once here she ran a marathon, did the Shiner ride, competed in amateur boxing, and lifted in several powerlifting meets before discovering Olympic-style weightlifting. A month before her 40th birthday she competed in the National Weightlifting Championships. In 2013, at the age of 42, she competed in the American Open Weightlifting Championships.

While earning a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech, Pattie fell in love with endurance training. After graduation, she moved to Austin and started training for the 1998 Tanqueray AIDS Ride (575 miles). Shortly thereafter she suffered a shoulder injury and decided to focus most of her energy on strength training. Since that time, in addition to two marathons, she has competed in several bodybuilding shows and powerlifting meets.
While completing his B.S. in Psychology, Brad ran his first 50K race. He got bit by the Ultra bug and hasn't slowed down since! He recently completed the Bandera Trail Run, which was (drumroll, please) a 31-mile run with a 5,264 elevation gain.
Alex started playing soccer in Guatemala when he was only 4 years old and continued to play soccer competitively throughout high school.
Erica has been an athlete her entire life and was a scholarship athlete at Texas State. She played soccer for 4 years while pursuing a Sports Science degree.
Paymahn discovered strength training at 13 and immediately fell in love. After earning a finance degree from Georgia State University, he continued to go to the gym and lift weights every week.
